Laguna Bacalar
The NewEarth Sanctuary is a socio-economic and environmentally restorative blueprint for innovative and sustainable living, the protection and restoration of the natural environment, and local economic growth.
At the heart of NewEarth Sanctuary is a commitment to pioneering sustainable living. Our sanctuary will house a full-spectrum syntropic agroforestry permaculture farm and facility, which will necessitate creating a nature preserve for local wildlife, the mature jungle canopy, foliage, mangroves, and the naturally occurring, rare, and ancient stromatolites found on the Laguna front.

Why Bacalar?
Bacalar is home to the largest freshwater microbialite reef in the world – rock-like structures created by thousands of microbes. These microbialites, with an age range from decades to over 9,000 years, release oxygen into the atmosphere and help maintain a healthy lagoon environment.
Stretching approximately forty-two kilometers, Bacalar’s crystalline waters boast a spectrum of turquoise and cobalt blues, derived from ancient stromatolites. With approximately 725 acres in the process of acquisition, we aim to expand protection areas along the Laguna front and develop a low-impact, responsible plan as tourism grows south from Tulum.
